PRK surgery is performed to correct mild to severe myopia, mild to moderate hyperopia, and astigmatism. Because in PRK surgery no corneal flap is created, it is recommended for patients with thin cornea or for people who are engaged in activities that put them at risk for eye injuries (and potentially, corneal flap dislocations) after surgery.
